Processed foods. What you should know about these dangerous foods

I want to discuss the topic processed foods. As it is important to consider. 
It is said that not all processed foods are bad for you. Processed foods is food that is in some way altered. 

Types of processed foods.
It can be foods such as
Canned vegetables
Salty snacks, such as chips crisps, pies pasties or sausage rolls
Meat such as ham, sausage, salami, polony, viennas, bacon.
Easy convenient foods such as microwave ready meals or meals that is ready to eat
Biscuits and cake 
Drinks. Soft drinks or milk

Again not all processed foods are considered bad. But it is a sure known fact that not all processed foods are considered good for you. Here is a few things to consider. Before you go out and add it to your grocery list again. Better yet. Read the label next time you want to add it to your trolley. 

Processed foods tend to be high in sugar.
Sugar as good and needed as it may be. Can be very harmful when it is used in excess. Sugar slows down your metabolism. Health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity and the dreaded C, cancer is associated with overuse of sugar. Sugar has no calories but is loaded with energy. As all know if you give your precious young child high sugary foods or sweets. They have loads of energy. And you think to yourself next time to buy fruit or limit those sugary stuff. Most get sugar not from drinking tea coffee or adding to cereals. But the real culprit is processed foods. Think about that.

Artificial ingredients.
You go shopping. You want to make sure that your family eats food that is healthy and nutritious, right? But at times you have no idea what the labels are telling you. So what does it all mean then, allow me to help by explaining it.
Preservatives is easily explained, ingredients that doesn't allow food to rot or go bad. ( Yet we ingest that. You really want that inside your body?)
Colorants helps food to maintain or have a specific colour. 
Flavor or flavorant. Helps food to have a specific taste.
Texturants helps food to have a specific texture.
With that said remember that many other chemicals does not even get mentioned on your label.

Refined Carbohydrates
Despite the fact that there has been a debate about how good or bad carbohydrates can be. There is one thing that they all agree about. Refined carbohydrates is an absolute no-no when you consider your health. It is not strange to have carb cravings when you had or have refined carbs. Because it causes a sugar spike. But the magic starts when that sugar go down again. Then the craving for carbs start all over again. Magic? No others will call it the blood sugar roller coaster.
Whole grains or is it? 
It means there was some form of healthy breakfast cereals added, right? Wrong it is nicely disguised So what is it then if not cereal? It is a form of fine flour. Considered just as unhealthy as refined carbohydrates. Also known to be bad as it can cause serious health risks.

When you think of the nutrients it is very low in the nutrients that your body needs. Especially when you compare it to food that was not processed. In many cases vitamins and minerals are added to compensate for the nutrients lost. But again it is not a replacement for the nutrients that comes from whole foods. So when you consume processed foods. You also eat less vitamins minerals and the much needed antioxidants your body needs.

Fiber is good for you because it helps your intestine as it feeds the friendly bacteria known as prebiotic. At the same time fiber can help with constipation problems. Which is a very common issue for many today. But when that fiber is added to processed foods. Sadly it loses its goodness. So fiber is lost or intentionally removed.

Trans fat
Processed food is high in fats that is very unhealthy. Cheap versions such as hydrogenated fats soybean vegetable oil or refined seed oils. But when used in processed foods it turns into trans fats and becomes bad for your health.  Because these fats has too much Omega 6 fats it can cause inflammation in the body. It can also cause oxidation. But by consuming processed foods you may increase your risk for heart diseases. Hydrogenated fat is one of the worst types of fat that you can consume. 

Junk food
Processed food is considered as junk food. Doctors will tell people to either limit or stop using it. We live in a society where junk food is easily accessible. Again it is ready to eat foods. In most situations. But given recent times. How safe is it really? I think of the things I have seen and heard. Big brands that you would think would realize that people should matter. But then the facts show it is about mass production and selling their product. At the expense of harmful products.

Remember this
There is no amount of junk food that is considered good if you have to deal with serious health issues. Can that product ever justify trouble with poor health? The best part of it. You paid for your hospital stay. How? You bought the food thinking it is safe or convenient. Or even easily accessible. Or maybe you just felt like it. And why not. They would not sell something that is just very bad for you. Would they?
Really, would they? I am sure you know the answer to this.

So with all this in mind. Why not consider real good healthy food? The best way to avoid health issues that was mentioned in this article is to change and stay with good wholesome food. Don't get me wrong. I am as guilty as everyone else for buying a chocolate. So this is not me telling others while I sit and think I am not part of the problem. I am just as guilty. But I will consider making better choices in the future. When does the future start? Right now. And each time I have to go grocery shopping. 

I have a doctor's friend. Very passionate about helping everyone. Yes even I get questioned if I do everything correctly. It can make me a bit upset but then I realize he cares,  he really cares about people being healthy. He makes it very clear that there is no reason to consider foods that is not healthy. Your nutrients should come from food that is actually good for you. I even once made the mistake of telling him to make sure my health is good I even buy multivitamins. And he made it clear eat correctly. Leave the multivitamins. That is what works. So do not substitute the correct foods with cheap unhealthy versions. 

The point is what we do now. We will be rewarded for. By making poor health choices. We suffer with health issues. Some times serious health issues. Next time you go into a store and hold a jar or can processed food. Remember, the longer the shelf life, The shorter your life will be. It's not just with processed foods. It is a lifechoice. Whether it is not being active Or doing things we know is bad for us. Or just poor choices when eating foods. Remember. Later we will pay the piper. What will be the consequence for your choices? Ask yourself. Is it truly worth it to maybe later in life have serious health issues. I say no.

Face masks for different skin types

We all know how important it is to feel and look good. A home made facial mask is a good pick me up that can be seen and felt within minutes. So with that in mind I am sharing tried and trusted facial masks for different skin types.

Dry skin
Take one banana. (Not too ripe) Make it fine with a fork that it can be applied to skin. Add a table spoon honey. Mix together and apply to freshly cleansed face. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse your face with luke warm water and apply your favorite moisturuser.

Normal or combination skin 
Take three table spoons honey. Add two tablesppons lemon juice. Mix well so that it makes a paste. Apply to freshly cleasned face. Leave on for twenty minutes. Rinse your face with luke warm water and apply your favorite moisturuser.

Oily skin
Take two egg whites slightly mixed, add one table spoon honey with one table spoon fat free milk powder to create a paste. Apply to skin that is freshly cleansed. Leave it for twenty minutes. Rinse your face with lukewarm water and apply your favorite moisturizer.

Plastic is said to cause cancer. What will you do about it?

Plastic plastic plastic. You are said to be culprit for over 50 types of cancer. 

Do I have your attention now? Then consider this. It is said that plastic can cause different types of cancer. But not just plastic. Heated plastic. Example would be leaving your bottled water in a hot car. Microwave food using plastic containers. So let us review this topic.
Before continuing and saying no to plastic. Remember this is said to be a hoax that has no facts. While on the other side is people who claim it is true. In fact I was told about it. Warned never to leave bottled water in a hot vehicle. As it can cause over 50 different types of cancer. But allow me to show both sides of this discussion. 

Those who warn against plastic use.
Now allow me to give the opinion of those who say no to plastic. It is said  when bottled water is left in a car the chemicals reacts to the heat and the end result is dioxin . The same dioxin that is found in breast cancer tissue. The best given suggestion there is to replace plastic with glass instead. Again dioxin seem to be created when combining high heat, fat and plastic. Same alternative is given. Replace plastic with glass if possible

Those who say that plastic is safe
As the FDA keeps checking the safety requirements of plastic and regularly test to see if plastic meets safety measures. According to research there is no threat to plastic. The Environmental Protection agency also checks safety standards regularly. Both say that there is no real threat to plastic.

According to one cancer research website there is no real threat. There is no scientific evidence that plastic can cause cancer once it is heated or frozen. According to the cancer site the chemicals that gets into food or drinks from plastic is too low to be considered harmful. Dioxin and Bisphenol A (BPA) seem to be the named culprits for this.

My opinion is this
The answer is obvious. For the love and protection of those most precious to me. I would rather change from using plastic. Yes I will rather leave plastic. Why add even a claimed low amount of chemicals that is said to be harmless when I have the option of no potentially hazardous chemicals . But I also realize in truth we can not avoid plastic as a whole. As glass seem to be replaced with plastic everywhere. What is your opinion about this?

Effective ways to get rid of sagging breasts. As well as prevent it

In previous articles I talked about effective home remedies for sagging breasts. Here I will mention a few other ways to help deal with sagging breasts. These are just as effective as the previous mentioned ways. It is something that affect women as they age. But it affects women with bigger breasts even more. Then the struggle for firm breasts has to be a stronger commitment. But if you commit to it. You will find the difference and you will be happy. Knowing you can now share what worked. If you want to avoid your breasts sagging. Then you have to know it is important to work your chest muscles. Exercises that is focused on working the chest area will be most effective as it strengthen the muscles within your breasts. End result will be breasts that is firm and does not sag. 

Olive oil
Olive oil is a great way to help with sagging breasts. As it is filled with antioxidants and much needed fatty acids. It helps with the skin tone and the texture as well. Olive oil helps to repair cells and also improve blood flow.

Pour a small amount of olive oil and rub your hands together to warm the oil. Now massage the oil on your breast. Make sure to do this in upward strokes. Do it for 15 minutes.  


Because pomegranate has strong anti aging properties. It can prevent your breasts from sagging. Yes it prevents your breasts from sagging. So this is great to avoid it from happening. 


Combine Pomegranate peels and warm mustard oil in a container. Mix it well so it can make a paste. Apply this mixture on your breasts. Make sure that it is circular motions. Do this for ten minutes. Rinse off after the ten minutes.

Apple Facial mask for different skin types. Also glowing skin

Fruit can be most effective for your skin. So why not consider it. Think about it. Tomatoes can fight the effects of ageing. Bananas can help for dry skin. So why not think about apples as a secret ingredient also. But please it is for fresh apples. Not frozen apples. 

Oily skin

Start with taking a bowl. Add a teaspoon apple that is grated. Add curd and lemon juice. Mix to make a paste that is mixed well. Apply on freshly cleansed face. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Never use hot water on your face. Apply your favorite moisturizer. 

This helps to remove excess oil while the curd is effective as it brightens skin and also moisturises. 

Dry skin

Again take a bowl. Add a teaspoon apple that is grated. Add just a few drops glycerine to the mixture. Make sure to mix it well that it is a smooth paste. Apply on freshly cleansed face. Leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse your face with warm water. Apply your favorite moisturiser. 

Sensitive skin

Start by boiling a small apple until it is tender. Peel off the skin. Now take a fork and crush the boiled apple. Now add only a teaspoon banana that is ripe. Last add fresh cream. Again only a teaspoon. Mix everything well to make a paste. Apply all over face. Leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse your face with warm water. Apply your favorite moisturiser. 

Glowing skin

Again start with taking a bowl. Add a teaspoon of apple that is grated. Add a teaspoon fresh pomegranate juice. Add a teaspoon yogurt. Stir everything to make sure it mix well. Apply over face.  Leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse your face with warm water. Apply your favorite moisturiser. 

This mask is filled with antioxidants. Has powerful anti ageing properties. It is extremely good because it helps to protect skin epidermis. An added bonus is that it helps to regenerate skin cells.

Home made facial mask for instant radiance and beautiful skin

Most women will agree that glowing skin is associated with flawless beauty. Perfect health and absolute radiance. So how many products do you know of that offers just that. But today I share a few home made face masks that can give you that radiant skin. 

Almond facial mask.
Start by taking a bowl. Add 8 to 10 almonds that is finely crushed.  Now add two tablespoons milk. Leave it for just a few minutes so that the milk can absorb the goodness of the almonds. Apply it on your freshly cleansed face. Softly pat it dry so it doesn't drip. Gently rinse your face after a few minutes. But use only cold water. Incidentally this is also effective for dark circles.

Fuller's earth.
Fuller's earth is another great product that can be used for your face. Start by taking three to four tablespoons fullers earth. Place it in a bowl. Now take 10 mint leaves and make sure it is finely crushed. Add all the ingredients in the bowl. Make sure everything is nicely mixed. Leave overnight in refrigerator. Next morning remove it from the fridge and allow it to reach room temperature. Now apply this on your freshly cleansed face. Allow it to dry. Clean your face with a cotton ball that is dipped in water. You can use rosewater to really complete the facial treatment. Afterwards wash your face with cool water. Never use hot water as it is harmful for your skin.

Cabbage facial mask.
Yes you read correctly. You may feel it is an absolute weird mask to consider. But at least try it before you reconsider. This mask is effective in the fight against wrinkles and gives you that radiant skin you want. All you have to do is take a cup of sliced cabbage. Extract the juice of the cabbage. Whatever method you have available or prefer. The secret is the juice. Leave it on for 20 minutes. Now wash your face gently with cool water. Gently dry your skin and    moisturise your skin with your prefered product. 


It had to be mentioned. A person that drinks 8 glasses of water has a naturally glowing refreshed skin. It helps your body get rid of toxins. So try it and see for yourself. An added bonus you will find that if you drink 8 glasses of water you will lose unwanted weight also.

Have strong healthy nails naturally home remedy

Strong nails just makes a nice difference to well looked after hands. I am fortunate enough to have strong nails. And I admit I prefer longer nails too. But after a question from a reader, I am sharing advice on how to have beautiful strong nails naturally. 

There is a few different methods that you can use. So I will share each one separately.

Green tea.
First make green tea. Let it sit and cool down. Leave your nails and let it soak up the goodness of this remedy. The result will be beautiful stong healthier and shiny nails. 

Olive oil
Olive oil is another great way to help your nails to become the nails you want. Massage a small amount of olive oil on your nails. 

Vitamin E 
Vitamin E is one of the most powerful ingredients for strong healthy nails. You can apply vitamin E oil on your nails. Leave it for a few minutes.

Some will swear by this. If you apply garlic onto your nails and massage it. It will bcome stronger and look healthy.It will also help your nails to grow.

You can also look in some shops and centres there is usually supplements that is meant for hair and nail. As it has the needed ingredients you can consider it. Plus it gives your hair much needed nutrients as well. 

Please note
All these methods will give you strong nails that is healthy and beautiful. But above all else. Remember that it should be done daily.
